Having shown the best and worst of their character in recent defeats, Castleford Tigers did it the other way around last night when they beat Salford Red Devils 37-30 to break their post-coronavirus duck.

After losing from 14-0 and 12-0 up against Catalans Dragons and Wigan Warriors, this time Tigers went from the ridiculous to the sublime.

Trailing 18-0 after just 11 minutes at Emerald Headingley, they - remarkably - hit back to lead for a spell in the first half before the sides went in at the interval all square.
