A Garforth dad on holiday in Canada has died after getting caught up in a late night gang attack.
Stuart Firth, 42, suffered a fractured skull in the incident, which happened while he and a friend were on a fishing trip to Ontario.

However, one theory is that the gang's target was a local man who was giving the holidaymakers a lift back to their chalet after an evening out.

Mr Firth was taken to a health centre in Peterborough before being airlifted to a hospital in the city of Kingston, also in Ontario. Mr Bowers escaped serious injury in the incident.

Mr Firth's wife, Anne, found out about the attack when the Canadian authorities contacted her at home in Garforth on Monday.

She flew out to Canada that same day with his parents, Gerald and Kathleen.

When they arrived at the Kingston hospital they were informed their loved one was clinically dead and only being kept alive by a life support machine.

They took the decision to switch off the machine shortly afterwards.
Tributes to Mr Firth were today led by his twin brother, Paul, also of Garforth.

He said: "He was very well liked, very well known and a good family man.

"It's hard to know what to think - it hasn't really sunk in yet."
Mr Firth, who ran his own signage firm, had two children, 11-year-old Amelia and eight-year-old Billy.

Peterborough police's major crimes unit is investigating the tragedy.
One unconfirmed local report said a 39-year-old man had been arrested in connection with the incident.
