Garforth man celebrates 100th birthday with Lord Mayor

The Lord Mayor and Lady Mayoress of Leeds were among the guests at the 100th birthday of Garforth man.
Coun and Mrs Brian Cleasby joined James Hill and his family for the celebrations at Grange Court Residential Home in Garforth where he has lived since December.

He had previously lived on his own in Harehills after his wife Mary died in 1984.

Mr Hill, who worked for the NHS Executive and as a bakery salesman, insurance agent and taxi driver, is a long-time member and
supporter of the Friendly Society movement, the Ancient Order of Foresters.

He has two daughters, one son, eight grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and two great great-grandchildren.
