Garforth is to get its own flood early warning system – run by local vounteer residents.
Garforth flood warning group members will be contacted by the Environment Agency when severe weather is on its way.

They will spread the word among neighbours in at-risk local homes. Seven parts of the town have been pinpointed as particularly vulnerable: Long Meadow Court; Lowther Road and The Grange; Oak Road; Barleyhill Road and Queensway; Farfield Court; Kingsway; Fairburn Drive and Ninelands Lane. Group members have been going door-to-door to identify properties most at risk.

Moves to set up the warden system began after dozens of homes in Garforth were flooded in 2007.
