Garforth's Neighbourhood Policing Team are joining together with local pubs to introduce polycarbonate glasses to the area.
Garforth NPT are handing out the drinking vessels which cannot break.

Inspector Elizabeth Belton said: "We are aware that there are occasional incidents of disorder in or around pubs and there is potential for glasses to cause injury.

"We are hoping that with the introduction of the polycarbonate glasses we can reduce this risk considerably, as well as continuing to push the message that alcohol related violence will not be tolerated.

"I would like to urge all the local pubs to get on board and use the new product.

"We are getting the glasses delivered to the pubs of Garforth before the football clubs game on Saturday against FC United.

"I would also like to take this opportunity to remind supporters of both clubs that this is a family game and anyone coming to the match with the intention of committing disorder will be appropriately dealt with.

"Disorder is not welcome on the streets of Garforth and we will continue to clampdown on anyone committing such an offence."
