Residents are in uproar over proposals for a wind farm on the outskirts of Garforth.
And they plan to turn out in force at a parish council meeting to oppose the plans.

It would be located on agricultural land at Hook Moor between Micklefield and Garforth.

Proposals for the wind farm have been the subject of an exhibition in the community.

Dozens of local residents attended and made their opposition known.

Micklefield Parish Council meets tonight at the village primary school.

One villager said: "The village is in uproar. People are getting organised to oppose this, and are planning to go to the meeting to make their views known. There is going to be a real row."

Communities to the east of Leeds were once heavily dependent on the coal mining industry, which provided thousands of jobs.

The last pit in the area to close was Allerton Bywater colliery, where 1,000 miners worked. It shut in the early 1990s.
