Pupils at the school have been lining up to say "well done" in Spanish to their teacher Nicola Davies, who has won a national award for teaching foreign languages.

Acting head Caroline Bean, who nominated Nicola for the award, said: "I have witnessed the excitement and enjoyment experienced by the children she has taught as they accurately speak the languages she has given them confidence to use."

The inaugural award was set up by education resources firm Scholastic and language learning company La Jolie Ronde.

Nicola's prize includes either an all-expenses paid two-day trip to France for up to 30 pupils and five teachers or a foreign language training course.

She also won £1,000 worth of La Jolie Ronde resources and £1,000 worth of scholastic books.
