Going into the game on a lovely spring morning Villa A were unbeaten in the league, and following a 2-2 draw with second placed Doncaster Moorends the weekend before it was felt that Villa B would provide a tougher test with

Villa B being a form team pressing for a top four position. Earlier in the season a 3-2 win to Villa A exemplified the passion of a derby game and again it was not to be a let down.

Early injuries to Villa A's Ronan Collar-Booth and Liam Cairns meant substitutions and positional changes which seemed to unsettle their flow. However Villa A continued to have the majority of possession with Villa B often breaking on the counter attack, but sturdy defending by Villa A's Bradley Hoyle and Macauley Clayton kept them at bay.

After 20 minutes Villa A went a goal up with a neat finish from Tom O'Callaghan, and following a further 15 minutes of physical football Villa A increased the lead on the stroke of half time when Shaun Cale found space to place a shot past Villa B's keeper.

In the second half Villa B continued to press effectively with the advantage of the slope and seemed to be turning the table in the amount of possession, any Villa A counter attack being snuffed out. Nerves seemed to be the biggest influence after Villa B deservedly scored to make it 2-1 following a penalty area scramble.

The usual free flowing football produced by Villa A all season seemed to dry up under the pressure cooker pace. In fact it was down to a strong defensive line lead by Villa A keeper Liam Heaps that meant a number of attempts were not to land on goal.

Midfield battles then seemed to be the order of the day with occasional
breakaways at both ends. Then a hanging corner from Villa B resulting in a goal line headed clearance by Villa A's Lewis Edwards kept a tight score line for a further 5 minutes until a breakaway on the left by Bradley Scott and a neat left footed cross found Josh Dobson who accurately volleyed in to make it 3-1 to Villa A.

That is how the game ended, but yet again Villa B had proved a tough team to break down.

With the final league game of the season a couple of weeks away, provided Villa A don't loose that game away at Holme on Spalding Moor by a dramatic score line then Villa A will claim the league title, hopefully doing it in style by finishing unbeaten, a great achievement.

But all this follows next weeks quarter final cup game against Selby, hopefully they can go on and achieve the double.
