Garforth Villa U-8s are celebrating after being crowned league champions.
The Blues

One point required for the league title and the Blues got off the a bad start when a flowing move opened up the Villa defence and a fierce shot opened the scoring.

Villa then sprung into action and pushed forward looking for the equalizer, It came after sustained pressure with another accurate shot beating the Calverley keeper from Nathan Hawkhead.

Calverley maintained their passing game but Callum Cairns and Ben Carless mopped up in defence to keep the scores even at half time.

As the second half started a similar pattern emerged with both teams playing good football and creating threats on each others goal. The breakthrough came for Villa with a winding run from Ben Carless who beat two defenders before steadying himself and placing his shot into the goal.

Joe Wilton came out of goal in the second half and found himself on the scoresheet when a neat pass found him in space and calmly finding the net.

Not to make things too easy Villa almost lost a goal straight away when Calverley created a chance which hit the base of the post before Connor Lockett in goal in the second half palmed it away. Calverley did make things tight at the end of the game when they scored their second, but time ran out and Villa had gained the points they needed to become Champions.

Calverley again played good passing footbal and got a goal back to put Villa on the back foot. In the second half the whites again broke away and a low shot from Kewell Morley re instated the two goal lead.

Chances were snubbed out by both sets of defenders until Calverley found themselves two against one in the goal area and scored their second.

Almost straight from the kick off Oliver Worlands pass found Kewell who calmly placed his shot past the keeper to regain the two goal cushion. A final goal from Jack Barker made the scoreline 5-2 . Final 3 points of the season bagged.
