At the start of this season due to an influx of new players Garforth Villa under 13's expanded to two teams who were to find themselves in the same division of the Selby league, so this was a fixture marked early on everyone's calendar.

In derby matches local passion and the will to win can usually level games, and so was the case in this game. In the first quarter of the match after end to end committed football and quick fire tackling Villa's B team took the lead after a shot by Harrison Burns freakishly bobbled over the Villa A keeper.

For the remainder of the first half following periods of both scrappy and creative football by both teams Villa A started to climb back into the game, and following a classy equaliser by Bradley Scott and a calm and clever piece of finishing by Lewis Edwards Villa's A team actually went in at half time with a 2-1 lead, some might say against the run of play.

Credit to Villa B they came out the second half how they started the first and following a neat passing move combining three or four players they equalised when Oliver Russchen put a precise shot past the Villa A keeper.

After some tactical changes Villa A gathered their composure and started to match Villa B on most parts of the pitch, and as time went on Villa B's resolve seamed to wane a little. Villa A striker George Miller took advantage of this and after holding off a couple of strong challenges he cleverly rounded the keeper to make it 3-2 to Villa A.

3-2 is how the game finished after 70 minutes of very entertaining football, contributed largely by a great display by Villa B and stubbornness by Villa A to give in.

It was a shame there had to be a loser, but all 3 points to Villa A gave them the opportunity to go top of the division again, but based on this performance Villa B won't be far behind.
