The Mighty Forth came close to causing an upset against Yorkshire 3 champions elect West Park Leeds in the second round of the Yorkshire Silver Trophy.

Price's conversion hit the upright but Garforth went in the break with a slim 1 point lead – 9-10.
Into the second half Garforth expected the Yorkshire 3 side in insert more pressure and duly responded whilst attacking the Clubhouse balcony.
Two further penalties one from 50 metres out gave the lead back to West Park and included the sin binning of full back Price for an off the ball incident. Once again the team spirit of Garforth came to the forefront and in the face of adversity they attacked the homeside up front and came close to taking the lead when Carl Thwaites made a break from deep in side his own half.
Unfortunately for Garforth West Park have one of the fastest wingers in the amateur game and he was able to track back to tackle the Garforth scrum half.
Garforth were enjoying a good spell of pressure and added the 3rd try of the game when scrum half Carl Thwaites took a quick tap penalty, when the visitors expected a kick for goal. After making useful yards Thwaites fed Adi Horwell who powered over from 10 metres carrying two desperate defenders with him. Garforth now enjoyed a slim 15-17 advantage with 10 minutes remaining.
West Park pressed forwards and once again forced the error from Garforth who gave away a penalty 30 metres out. Once again Armstrong converted to re-establish the homesides lead.
With time running down Garforth went on one last attack and after a quick tap penalty by Adam Brown they were awarded a further penalty 30 metres out. Knowing time was up Captain Brown elected to go for goal. Gomersons stepped up to give Garforth the win with his 1st penalty of the game but his effort drifted agonising wide by a few inches.
Despite the defeat The Mighty Forth can hold their heads high after running in 3 tries to nil against a side who next season will be playing rugby 2 divisions higher than themselves.
Next up for Garforth is the visit of newly crowned Yorkshire 4 champions Old Rishworthians to the Community College on Saturday for the final home league encounter of the season - Kick off 3pm.
