Match report: Garforth RUFC v Hornsea

The Mighty Forth showed no mercy and dished out an emphatic beating against injury ravaged Hornsea.

Buoyed with confidence from their visit to Halifax Vandals last week, the Mighty 'Forth went in to Saturday's fixture with Hornsea in destructive mood. ]

The initial breakthrough came from Garforth's wing. Good link up play from the base of the scrum from number eight Adi Horwell and scrum half Carl Thwaites released Des Claxton down the right wing to run through the scrambling full back and score the opener.

New recruit Jonny Lawson added to the tally with a well taken try down the left wing to give the winger a try on his home debut. The winger returned the ball with interest all day and was solid in defence and thoroughly deserved his man of the match acclaim.

The try of the match was scored in the first half by an unexpected source. Flanker Jonny Fallas received a kick on the half way line and set off into the Hornsea forwards.

The pocket rocket glided through the Hornsea forwards, dished out a mighty fend and crossed the line to the disbelief of even himself. A further try from Bob Collins finished the half.

Garforth continued their impressive display in the second half with good driving from Guy Hawkridge, Stu Daly and Chris Nevison helping build a platform to release the Garforth backs.

Full back Rob Collins had began to join the line and was causing endless problems. Three times he created the space for a try to be scored with Lee Dawson, Alex Gomerson and Si Horwell benefiting.

With Gomerson having a fantastic day with the boot, kicking 7 out of a possible 8 conversions Garforth finished the match with 54 points and move up the Yorkshire 4 table
