Squash: Garforth win league title
Garforth are celebrating after winning the Kall Kwik Harrogate Squash League First Division Championship at the first attempt.
The team were making their debut this season in being promoted straight into Division One.
Trust in them to do well was certainly not misplaced but the Garforth-Collingham battle went to the wire.
In the end only eight points separated the two sides.
Garforth finished with 216 points and 19 victories from 22 matches.
Runners-up Collingham, who dominated the first half of the season, ended with 198 points.
Garforth took the title despite surprisingly losing their penultimate match by a 2-1 margin against Otley. Meanwhile Collingham took a 2-1 victory against Nomads.
In the final showdown of the season Garforth scored a 2-1 win against Collingham.
Garforth took nine points from the match, Collingham 3.
Garforth's winners were Alex Tate and Dave Perry.
Tate defeated Collingham club coach Nick Williams 3-0 and Perry repeated the same scoreline against Adrian Sewell.
