The BluesGarforth Villa U-8s 2Wortley Boys U-8s 0After numerous half chances the blue teams striker Harrison Holgate opened the scoring with a well placed left foot shot after beating the last defender for pace.
Again half chances were squandered before the ball fell to Nathan Hawkhead who collected the ball on the halfway line, set himself before hitting a long range strike which found the top corner of the goal.
After the break the Wortley found it difficult to hold back the pressure exerted by Villa and a number of shots narrowly missed their target. The best chance the opposition had was smothered by brave goal keeping by Ethan Howcroft.
At the final whistle the score had remained 2-0 but the performance by
the Blues had deserved better.
The WhitesGarforth Villa U-8s 2Wortley Boys U-8s 1The Whites then found themselves playing another well drilled Wortley team who pressured the Villa defence from the start. But stout defending by Joseph Wicks and Oliver Worland kept the attackers at bay.
Wortley did get an opportunity but Joe Wilton in goal managed to save a Wortley shot on the line. When they did get the chance the whites drove forward and chances passed the post after efforts from Kewell Morley and Michael Jabin.
A scoreless first half very quickly turned into a Wortley lead when a through ball opened up the defence and Wortley scored.
This spurred Villa into action and the equalizer came as Harry Bradley shot from just inside his own half and bounced over the keeper into the net and a second came when Jack Barker's corner was turned into the goal after pressure from Kewell Morley at the near post.
Wortley then piled forward to try and equalise but a brilliant display of tackling kept them out. An inch perfect pass from Kewell found Michael in space but his low drive just missed. A great performance by the entire squad.
