Garforth Villa started their last league game of the season knowing that a victory would leave them joint top and the prospect of a play off for the league title.

A great advertisement for Girls football took place on a very warm day on a huge pitch.
Villa started well and had most of the possession and territorial advantage in the first half but chances were limited .The best chance was created by
Anna Ellington as she twisted and turned inside the box and fired a powerful shot that was well saved by the Ilkley keeper.Villa had defended superbly in the first half with Naomi Bramley,Amy Poole and Becky Durkin impressive.
The second half brought a succession of chances to both sides as the heat and the size of the pitch took their toll.

All had great chances but the Ilkley keeper was in good form.Aimee Routledge in Villa`s goal commanded her line superbly and made two excellent stops.
Villa got the breakthrough eventually when Rosie Frosdick popped up to knock in the rebound after the Ilkley goalie had made her only mistake and spilled a shot.
Ilkley showed great spirit in pushing forward in search of an equalizer and came close hitting the woodwork twice, to the relief of a big home crowd.
Their was to be no further goals and both teams had given their all with Ellie winning the player of the match after tireless running throughout the game with Holly Jordan also outstanding in her midfield role. Every one of the girls had played their part in a fantastic team performance.
Villa must now play off against Killinghall from Harrogate to determine the league winners. If Villa were to win it would be the first Winners trophy in their girls section in the four years they have run girls teams.
