After a slow start finishing third at Scissett, Villa won tournaments at:

* Middleton - the competition was strong here with 12 teams entering at this age group from as far a field as North Yorkshire and Humberside.

* Wortley - two Villa teams entered this one and ended up playing each other in the semi-final before going on to win the tournament overall

* Their own tournament at Villa which was particularly pleasing to the home crowd.

They also finished runners up in the Horsforth St Margaret's tournament to a strong Bury FC girls team.

The season starts on Saturday and Villa having lost one of their strikers to the School Of Excellence and their keeper now retired along with three midfielders will have to regroup.

Five new faces have come into the squad, there is still a place for a recognised keeper and possibly a striker.

Manager, Chris Routledge, said: "We will have to see what the season brings as the girls go into the U-15s Division 2 of the West Riding League."
