Rehersals for Garforth Amateur Dramatic Society's latest production have begun. Click here for full details.
The group will be staging The White Cliffs by Bettine Manktelow at the Welfare Hall on Main Street from Wednesday, November 21 to Saturday, November 24.(7.30pm)

Tickets will be available in due course from members or Garforth Bookshop.

The play is set in 1948 and centres around The White Cliffs, a Midlands boarding-house, comes a group of touring concert performers.

Mike Nicholls, GADS chairman, explained: "Mrs Murdoch, the landlady, hides her war-traumatized son Danny away in the house and the disappearance of one of the performers, and a suspicious accident occurring to another, leads Jane (one half of "The Joysticks", a comedy and music duo) to seek him out.

"The solution to the mystery proves to be as moving as it is intriguing, with a very human situation at its root."

The cast in order of appearance has been confirmed as: Mrs Murdoch (Landlady) Anita Rushforth; Jane (Half of "The Joysticks") Helen Pattinson; Joy (Half of "The Joysticks") Erica Nicholls; Gloria (Magician's Assistant) Laura Oswald; Monty (Headlining Comedian) Tony Mulvany; Serena (Singer) Carole Hurst; Marvo (Magician) Daniel Martin..

"We would particularly welcome Helen who is a new member and will be making her GADS debut in the production," added Mr Nicholls.

The group are also holding a jumble Sale at the Welfare Hall on Saturday, October 13 (10am) and a 60th anniversary party at the St Benedict's Centre on Saturday, October 27, (7.30pm). The party will have a 40s theme.

Tickets are £8 with period music, live entertainment (to be confirmed) and refreshments included. A full licensed bar also available.

Full details and ticketing procedures will be published on Garforth Today in due course.
