They've never seen their names up in lights. But, as far as their pals in the Garforth Amateur Dramatic Society are concerned, Pat Toes and Judith Elliott are more deserving of lifetime achievement awards than any star of stage or screen. Click here for more details.

Pat, 78, and Judith, 70, have between them clocked up a whopping 112 years' service with the society.

And later this month they will take centre stage at a party which has been organised to mark the group's 60th anniversary.

Committee member Anita Rushforth said: "It's fantastic to have two people like Pat and Judith around.

"They are so motivated and enthusiastic - an inspiration to us all."

Pat, who met her late husband Derek through the society after she joined in 1950, is trying to track down as many former members as possible before the anniversary party.

The great-grandmother, who concentrates on front-of-house duties, said: "We used to have an address book but sadly it's gone missing.

"I'd love to hear from anyone who has lost touch with us and wants to attend - the more the merrier."

Grandmother-of-four Judith signed up with the society in 1952 after being bitten by the acting bug at school.

Her first role saw her playing a maid in The Hollow, by Agatha Christie.

"I remember a chap whose character got shot looked round for a comfy spot to fall on," laughed Judith, who is today the society's regular prompter. "I don't think anyone noticed, though!

"Over the years, the standard has been really high.

"I'm glad I'm still involved. It makes sure you're using your brain as you get older!"

The group puts on two plays a year at Garforth Miners' Welfare Hall.

Rehearsals are well under way for its next dramatic effort, a production of Bettine Manktelow's The White Cliffs which runs from November 21 to 24.

The society's 60th anniversary party will be held at St Benedict's Parish Centre in Garforth on Saturday, October 27. It has a 1940s theme and tickets cost £8.
