Fourteen properties built in the early 1900's are set to be demolished in the area at a cost of £1.1 million.

This will pave the way for new, modern, environmentally friendly homes to be built.

Phase one has already been completed and phase two is currently underway. Once all three phrases are complete the total number of properties to be demolished and cleared will be eighty seven.

Councillor David Hollingsworth (Lib Dem, Burmantofts and Richmond Hill) said: "We need to improve the quality of our housing stock, the current properties in the area are not sustainable and this is the best solution. We are extremely pleased that the regeneration of this part of our ward is a step closer. These plans compliment the EASEL project and once complete will transform our area.
