GARFORTH BRASS3rd Section Competeing Brass Bands
CONTACT: Karen Browning (Secretary)
TELEPHONE: 07801 635054
BASE: Garforth Community College
EMAIL: mail@garforthbrass.comWEBSITE: www.garforthbrass.comOTHER INFORMATION: * The band rehearses at Garforth Community College on Sunday evenings from 6pm-7.30pm. This is very good in the fact that we survive on only one rehearsal per week whereas other bands have two or three. So it is an attraction to 'brass banders' who maybe cannot afford the time for more than one rehearsal. We welcome any new players who can meet the high standards that the band must maintain to reach our goal.

CONTACT: Steve Archdale
TELEPHONE: 07889440516
ADDRESS: 7 James Close, Garforth Leeds, LS25 2NS
EMAIL: steve.archdale@btinternet.comWEBSITE: www.stmarysyouththeatre.blogspot.comOTHER INFORMATION: * The Theatre's first ever production was Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat in 1993 with a cast of more than 60 with ages ranging from eight to 22. Everyone who auditioned were all succesful no one was turned away. The show was rehearsed and performed in 8 weeks to thunderous acclaim in a church hall converted into a Pharaoh's tomb by a local artist. What began as a one-off production became the start of many shows to come.
* A disastrous fire in 1995 wrecked their headquarters, destroying costumes, props and sets. This could easily have been the end of SMYT but as a result they have pulled together and grown stronger gradually replacing their losses. As members of the Leeds Civic Arts Guild they perform at the new, Leeds Carriageworks theatre which is in the Millenium Square, mainly musicals (i.e., Les Miserables, Jesus Christ Superstar, Fame, Children of Eden, Les Mis. etc.).
* The National Theatre Connections scheme gives the group the chance to perform new plays written by the very best writers. In 2002 they were fortunate to perform at the Royal National Theatre itself.
* Recent productions include Little Shop of Horrors, Honk, 17, Feather Boy and The Musicians.
* SMYT are now based, rehearse and perform at Green Lane School, Garforth, Leeds and charge a yearly subscription fee of £20.
