Garforth Arts Festival, backed by the Yorkshire Evening Post, saw all corners of the community get involved with Saturday's closing event.

Named The Playground Party, the finale saw top names such as Courtney Pine, Kate Rusby and the James Taylor Quartet performing alongside hundreds of local schoolchildren.

Local bands, including Skaforth and the Garforth Jazz Rock Band, were also featured on the bill.

Festival director Dave Evans said: "The Playground Party was a great success. After months of planning it was great to see such a mix of people of all ages enjoying themselves. We were lucky with the weather as well.

"The vision of this festival is to put school children and local people together with artists of the highest quality.

"The Playground Party did that, as the children performed alongside some of the best musicians in the UK."
