Leeds will be set alight with a bang next week when fireworks displays take place across the city to celebrate Guy Fawkes night.
The annual events which occur across six sites of the city will celebrate the anniversary of Guy Fawkes' failed 'Gunpowder Plot' to blow up the House of Parliament ,with community bonfires and firework displays lighting up the night skies.
Fireworks won't be the only thing sparkling at Roundhay Park, one of the largest bonfires in Yorkshire, as the Super League Trophy , which the Leeds Rhinos retained for a record third consecutive year will be making an appearance along with Ronnie the Rhino.
The celebrated win for the Rhinos saw them beat long-term rivals St Helens to secure a place in history, and bonfire night will be another chance to celebrate this victory.
The event at Roundhay, organised by Leeds City Council, is the largest event in Leeds, attracting around 70,00 people of all ages.
The night will start with a music set from Glen Pinder, from Magic 828 with the bonfire being lit at 7.30pm and fireworks commencing at 8pm.
Thursday, November 5 will also see bonfires across the other sites, Springhead Park in Rothwell, East End Park, Middleton Park, Woodhouse Moor and Bramley Park with bonfires being lit at 7pm and fireworks starting 7.30pm.
Leeds City Council executive member for Leisure Councillor John Procter said: "Leeds hosts some great bonfire events across the city for people of all ages to enjoy. The atmosphere is always brilliant at all the events, with huge crowds enjoying the free entertainment.
"It is great to host one of the largest bonfires in Yorkshire and provide events that offer a fun and safe atmosphere to enjoy bonfire night."
Glen Pinder, from Magic 828's Breakfast show, said: "When people in Leeds think of bonfire night they automatically think of Leeds' biggest event... Roundhay Park!
"I'm looking forward to joining my home crowd for a fantastic evening with a roaring fire and a fantastic fireworks finale again this year on Soldiers Fields."
