An investigation into the way police handled the arrest of guest at a baby's christening in Leeds which turned into a mass brawl will be overseen by the Independent Police Complaints Commission.
The matter was referred to the IPCC after nine complaints were received after the incident at the Tommy Wass pub in Beeston on Sunday.
Earlier this week young mum Laura Moore, from Morley, told how she was celebrating the christening of her six-week-old baby with around 60 friends and family in the pub's function room.
The 17-year-old said around eight uniformed officers burst in at around 6.15pm to arrest a guest who had allegedly attacked an officer minutes earlier.
According to West Yorkshire Police their staff were "met with a wall of hostility and violence" as they tried to seize the man who had just been questioned outside about a fight in nearby Old Lane.
But guests said the officers over-reacted and lashed out with truncheons while they tried to flee the building with their children, many of whom were babies.
A total of 40 officers were involved and nine guests were arrested. They were later released on bail.
Eight officers suffered injuries, according to West Yorkshire Police.
