Castleford Tigers veteran Andy Lynch halfway to dream finalé
Lynch, who will retire at the end of the season, has already helped Tigers win the Betfred Super League leaders’ shield – and now his sights are set on the Grand Final.
Tigers secured top spot by beating Wakefield Trinity last week, but have four more games in the Super-8s, beginning at Huddersfield Giants on September 1, before a home semi-final.

“We have got a week off to recover, but then we’ve got Huddersfield and that’s another massive game for us.
“We will enjoy it while we can, but the big business is still to come. We’ve done one and now we want to do the second part of it.
“We are going to be focused and working hard and ready to go.”

“It is great to know this is the first part of it and it answers the doubters who keep saying the bubble has burst,” Lynch added.
“It is great to do it on our terms, but I think we need to improve. We weren’t at our best [against Wakefield], we were pretty scratchy with the ball and without so we’ve still got a lot of work to do before the semi-final.”
Of winning the shield, Lynch said: “It is great; I have waited 19 years to get some silverware and play in a game like that.
“It was special to do it on our own turf in front of all our fans who have been great this year. It gives something back to them, who have followed us week in and week out.”
