Yorkshire golf: Howley Hall’s Armitage leads White Rose challenge in EuroPro Tour’s finale
Howley Hall’s Marcus Armitage, twice a winner this season, has put himself in good shape ahead of the 54-hole Matchroom Sport Tour Championship to claim one of the five Challenge Tour cards on offer.
He lies second in the Race to Desert Springs standings, less than £2,000 behind leader Darren Wright, of Goodwood, and his focus will be on taking the next step towards the European Tour as the HotelPlanner.com PGA EuroPro Tour’s top money-winner for 2015.

The Wolverhampton player is the most vulnerable of the men currently occupying the qualifying spots as £20,000 will go to the winner after Friday’s final round.
Graeme Clark, of Doncaster, has a bit more leeway to make up, standing nearly £12,000 shy of Rai’s earnings, and Middlesbrough’s Michael Skelton is just over £2,000 further adrift.
But the winner’s cheque being double its normal size on the Tour, and with a record £90,000 prize fund in total, all seven Yorkshire players go into the season’s climax with a card within their grasp.

Daniel Godding, PGA EuroPro Tour Director of Operations, said: “Desert Springs is an ideal resort to host our Matchroom Sport Tour Championship and I know we are going to see a spectacular end to our season.
“There are so many top-class golfers on this tour and it is going to be a fierce battle to see who can claim a card on the Challenge Tour for next season.”
The Matchroom Sport Tour Championship begins on Wednesday and concludes on Friday. A two-hour highlights package from the tournament will air on Sky Sports on Tuesday, November 10 with a season review show to broadcast the following week.
