York City 1 Guiseley 0 - Tenacious ten-man Lions held at bay by the Minstermen
And 627 were in attendance to witness the Minstermen climb to fourth in the National League North table.
Guiseley joint-manager Marcus Bignot said of the defeat: “It was disappointing to concede the way we did; we were in this game. The sending off put us on the back foot, we put everything out there and [we] could have got a goal right at the end.”

A free-kick near the edge of the box was whipped in by Sean Newton with Josh King getting the required touch, past Brad Wade.
Oliver Dyson nearly made it two moments before the break, weaving into the area and forcing Wade into an impressive stop, with the keeper using his feet to deny the goal.
The task for Guiseley was made even harder when Isaac Currie was sent off, after picking up two yellow cards in the space of a few minutes - both for late challenges.

Hide AdThe Minstermen nearly wrapped up the win when ex-Lion Jake Cassidy flicked his header just wide of the far post. He went even closer when a ball over the top found the forward who, on the angle, saw his shot drift agonisingly wide.
Guiseley had a great chance as added time approached. Hamza Bencherif was found in the area and his header looked goal bound but City goalkeeper Pete Jameson stretched and pushed the ball over the bar.
Guiseley will be looking to bounce back on New Year’s Day when they make the short trip to Farsley Celtic who crashed at home yesterday, 4-0 to Boston United.
York City, meanwhile, are set to host their final game at Bootham Crescent against Bradford (Park Avenue) on Saturday.
