Leeds United and Marcelo Bielsa have come a long way in just two years, and following the Championship break amid the coronavirus pandemic the goal that was put in front of the Argentine head coach as he signed in 2018 remains the same as it is today; to reach the Premier League. Here, we take a look back at some of his best moments so far...
1. Bielsa arrives
On June 15, 2018 - Marcelo Bielsa puts pen to paper on a deal to become Leeds United head coach.
2. Bielsa's first game (and win)
Aug, 18 - No-one knew what to expect... but the Whites turned up and steamrolled freshly relegated Stoke City in style as Leeds ran out 3-1 winners at Elland Road in Bielsa's first game in charge.
3. The lowest point?
Nov, 18 - United travelled to fellow promotion hopefuls West Brom but were sent home pointless as they were hammered 4-1 at the Hawthorns. The defeat, though, sparked a seven game winning run.
4. Back from the brink
Dec, 18 - Two days before Christmas the Whites trailed 2-0 at Villa Park at the interval. United could hardly believe it as Kemar Roofe struck a winner in injury time to seal a 3-2 win.
5. Spygate
Jan, 19 - After Derby County noticed a member of Bielsa's staff outside their training ground, Bielsa admitted in a press conference that he had 'spied' on every team Leeds had faced.
6. Whites charge on
Jan, 19 - The fallout was ugly and split opinion. Bielsa was made to pay a 200,000 fine, but United carried on their promotion charge with a 2-0 win over the Rams at home.
