'Immediate action' required as flood warnings issued in Yorkshire due to heavy rainfall

Low lying properties in the Upper Hull catchment, River Hull at Hull Bridge and Beverley and the Roam Drain and River Hull at Hempholme are all at risk of flooding according to the Flood Information Service.
'Immediate action' is required by residents in the areas, the service said.

Hide AdIncident response teams are checking defences and closely monitoring the situation in Yorkshire.
Residents have been urged to avoid low lying footpaths and plan driving routes to avoid the areas.
The warning for low lying properties states: "This flood warning remains in force as river levels remain high following recent rainfall.
"Consequently, flooding of low-lying property, roads, and farmland in the upper River Hull catchment is expected. The level of Frodingham Beck at Frodingham Bridge has risen slightly above 1.35m.

Hide Ad"The last of the melting snow, and some rain showers tonight, are expected to keep levels high.
"Our incident response staff are checking defences and closely monitoring the situation. Please avoid using low lying footpaths near local watercourses, and plan driving routes to avoid low lying roads near rivers which may be flooded."
