Our puzzle pages are a Friday treat for young YEP readers at Leeds school
Kippax North Primary is among more than a dozen schools across the city taking part in Let’s Read: LEEDS.
Each child in participating classes receives a booklet filled with stimulating activities designed to develop literacy skills.

Hide AdThey also get copies of the YEP each week for six weeks – and the newspaper has definitely won the seal of approval from its young readers.
Kippax North Primary teacher Beverly Doubtfire said: “The children are absolutely loving it.
“They like the fact that they are getting to read what is essentially a text for adults.
“They also like the way they can read the papers. They aren’t directed to a particular article, and instead they can dip in and out and choose what to concentrate on. The subject matter is also something different for the children – and, on a lighter note, we keep the puzzle pages for them to do as a Friday treat!”

Hide AdLet’s Read: LEEDS is being run by the YEP in partnership with The NEWS Foundation.
Other local schools taking part include Templenewsam Halton Primary, Tingley’s Blackgates Primary, Calverley Parkside Primary, Pool Primary and Adel St John the Baptist Primary.
