And, despite the plans being located on greenfield land, a report from planning officers recommends panel members accept the application. But the panel will discuss the viability of the site off Tyersal Close, after local councillor Simon Seary says the site was not allocated for housing in the council’s unitary development plan (UDP) – a document which decides where houses should be built.
This will soon be replaced with a new document called the core strategy site allocation plan, which does include the site, but has not yet been approved.

However, some locals were supportive of the plan. One neighbour wrote: “This land has been vacant scrub land for many years I’ve lived next to it for the last 15 years and is frequently subject to fly tipping and littering.
“The proposed development will bring the land back into use, prevent fly tipping and improve the neighbourhood.” The application will go before the panel at Civic Hall on Thursday.
