Officers in Pontefract town centre spotted the man on Monday morning - who then quickly fled through a market place, "past a Greggs and then back on himself" where he managed to evade the police.
However, officers used a live CCTV feed from cameras in the centre to track the suspect through town - while courageous members of the public helped by pointing out the direction in which he was running.
