Jealous ex-boyfriend attacked former partner and threatened to kill her in busy Leeds street

A court heard how the woman was terrified and feared she would be killed during the incident in Harehills.
Leeds Crown Court heard Geger Ali was in breach of a non-molestation order by committing the offence on June 13 last year.

Hide AdJane Brady, prosecuting, said the defendant and the victim had been in a relationship for two years until they split up as a result of a number of domestic incidents.
The woman managed to obtain a non-molestation order against Ali six months prior to the incident.
Ms Brady said the victim was walking with a friend along Harehills Road, near to the Baba Jaga convenience store, when she heard the defendant shouting abuse at her.
Ali got off the scooter he had been riding and approached her.

Hide AdThe 21-year-old forced the woman up against a wall and said: "S**g, I am going to kill you."
The woman's friend tried to stop the attack but Ali was too strong for her.
Ali continued to shout abuse about the woman and her new partner before leaving.
Police were contacted and the defendant was arrested the next day.

Hide AdHe denied being in the Harehills area at the time of the incident.
Ali, of Nowell Terrace, Harehills, pleaded guilty to making threats to kill and breaching a non-molestation order.
Shila Whitehead, mitigating, said: "He accepts that he was wrong behaving in the way that he did."
The barrister added: "He is a young man with a limited record.

The court heard Ali had been in custody for more than six months since he was arrested.
Judge Geoffrey Marson QC agreed to impose a suspended prison sentence because of the length of time Ali has already spent in prison on remand.
Ali was given an 18-month sentence, suspended for two years.
He was also ordered to complete 32 rehabilitation activity requirement days.
The judge told Ali: "You have a history of jealousy.
"I make it clear to you now that your relationship is over."
