A planning application has been submitted to Leeds City Council seeking permission for a total of 238 homes on land occupied by the recently-closed Stocks plant off Ninelands Lane in Garforth.
A supporting document says the Redrow Homes development would be an “integrated residential community with a sensitive relationship to the existing settlement uses”.

And now councillors Mark Dobson and Sarah Field (Lab, Garforth & Swillington) have added their voices to calls for the scheme to get the knock-back.
They say they have serious concerns over the possible impact of the development on drainage problems, traffic congestion and school space pressures.

“Myself and Coun Field both support the concept of brownfield first but not at any price and not where completely unsustainable.”
The properties proposed for the site would be a mix of two and three storeys with up to four bedrooms.
Permission is also being sought for the demolition of the former factory buildings, which were home to concrete block manufacturer Stocks for more than 50 years until its relocation to Cross Green.
Comments on the scheme should be submitted to the council by Friday, February 24.
