More than 40,000 fans watched the Whites beat Middlesbrough at Elland Road thanks to an Alan Smith goal in the final game of the 2002/03 season. With a UEFA Cup place already assured, the win was worth £440,000 to Leeds, as they climbed one place in the league table to finish fifth.
