1. Rhythms of the City
Launched in the 1990s this colourful summer arts city centre festival was enjoyed by thousands of people. Scrapped in 2004 when council chiefs claimed it didn't offer best value for money and ruled it should be scrapped. Photo: James Hardisty
2. Leeds Lord Mayor's Parade
Celebrated city life during the late 1970s through the 1980s and into the 1990s. The parade,featuring marching bands, hundreds of majorettes alongside dozens of floats, brought huge crowds onto the streets. Photo: Mel Hulme
3. Party in the Park
It was the annual free pop party that everyone was invited to. Started in 1994 it played host to a galaxy of chart-topping artists at Temple Newsam. The music stopped in 2014. Photo: Simon Hulme
4. Classical Fantasia

5. Futurama Festival
The now demolished Queens Hall in the city centre hosted two music festivals in 1979 and 1980 whose line ups read like a who's who of rock history. They included Hawkwind, U2, Joy Division and Echo and the Bunnymen.
6. Opera in the Park
Opera fans flocked to Temple Newsam for thise annual celebration of the musical genre. Alfie Boe and Katherine Jenkins were just two of the big names to perform over the years. Cancelled in 2014. Photo: Sarah Washbourn
