Thanks to the generous support of people across Leeds, it is able to help fund pioneering research, provide specialist staff, improve the hospital environment and purchase cutting edge equipment, as well as investing in staff wellbeing and educational opportunities.
Here Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust staff and patients explain in their own words why the extra support given by the charity matters so much.

Lawrence Miall, Consultant Neonatologist on the Neonatal Unit
“Donations make a huge difference. It doesn’t matter how big or small it is, every little bit that you give to the kids (in hospital) makes a huge difference, it really does.”
Darren, parent of child at Leeds Children’s Hospital
“We are so lucky to have charitable support from Leeds Hospitals Charity, their support helps us provide patients with anything from high-tech equipment to the little extras that help make staff, patients and relatives have the best possible experience.”

Lisa Beaumont, Therapeutic and Specialist Play Manager at Leeds Children’s Hospital
“I have a number of disabilities and my partner had become my full-time carer during the pandemic. We were so grateful to receive £200 in shopping vouchers so we could buy the essentials we needed.”

“We’re absolutely over the moon that Leeds Hospital Charity’s appeal has raised enough to buy a new incubator for the ward! We see the nurses, doctors and surgeons as Archie’s first family, Emma and I will forever be in their debt. Only really now that Archie has grown to a ‘normal birth weight’, we realise just how vulnerable he was when he was born at 2lb 12oz, 10 weeks prematurely back in August. We are so lucky to have the unbelievably skilful and knowledgeable NHS staff looking after our little boy.”

“Donations make a huge amount of difference, donations have been used to fund equipment but there also used to fund things the NHS don’t provide, so things that are nice to have rather than essentials.”
Sarah Whittle, Radiographer at Leeds Cancer Centre
“Leeds Hospitals Charity supports Leeds Children’s Hospital to make that experience as good as can be. Raising funds to help them to continue to do this is one little way to help them do that.”
