In the seven days leading up to Saturday September 5, the rate per 100,000 people in the city rose from 32.5 to 56.1 - an increase of 445 cases.
The spread is broad and changeable across the city but cases have been increasingly detected in younger people aged 18-34, with some concern over activities like house parties, gatherings and people going out to eat and drink.

Hide AdBut video taken in Briggate on Saturday night appears to show people flouting the rules.
While going out to pubs, bars and restaurants is still allowed in Leeds, the rules state you should only socialise with members of up to two households.
The video, taken by Josh Sedman, shows a large group of people singing and dancing together to a street busker in one of Leeds' busiest streets.
His friend Liaqat Ali, co-founder of Leeds Pride, posted the video with the caption: "People like this are pushing Leeds towards lockdown!"
