These seven developments are currently being constructed, or in the planning stages, and could transform the shape of the city. Have a look at some of the possibilities:
1. Wetherby 800 homes plan approved despite road access problems
Leeds City Councils city plans panel approved an application from Taylor Wimpey to build 800 homes, a food shop, a primary school and public spaces off Racecourse Approach in Wetherby.
2. First look at plans for Leeds Station entry rebuild
Blueprints include revamping Bishopgate Street, completely removing traffic from New Station Street and improving pedestrian access to the station.
3. Former Leeds police headquarters could become student flats
The plans include refurbishing former police headquarters Brotherton House, which would be linked with the new block. It includes 56 studio flats and 46 cluster flats, providing 350 beds, as well as a lounge, study, games room, gym and cinema.
4. Italian-style housing development set to go before Leeds planning chiefs
Developers want to build a complex of 245 homes over two buildings of between nine and 11 storeys, as well as commercial uses on the ground floor.
5. New Headingley Wetherspoons
The pub chain was granted planning permission last November to renovate the Elinor Lupton Centre on the former site of Leeds Girls High School in Headingley Lane, and is now seeking permission to serve alcohol on the site.
6. New details on Leeds Bradford Airport expansion plans
According to pre-application plans the new terminal would include three main floors and improved vehicle access. It was also confirmed that the new site would be closer to a proposed parkway rail station, announced by Leeds City Council last year.
